I was so excited that I got to see my favorite author Charlaine Harris!! My friend Abbie told me that she was in town for a book signing, thanks Abbie! Ms. Harris writes the Sookie Stackhouse books which True Blood is based on (BTW, the books are SO much better!!)
GeeGee and Pa watched the kids for us and I drug Louis there with me, I told him it was a part of my Mother's Day gift ;) We got there early to make sure we got in and a book to have her sign. Unfortunately, I didn't get anything signed. It was too late for that, since people had been buying books since Tuesday and I just learned about it on Friday. That's OK though, I was still able to hear her speak.
There was a long line to get into the presentation room, it wrapped around one side of the building and part of the way around another side. I didn't think I was going to make it. Thankfully they let people stand in the back of the room, so we were able to squeeze in. There was easily over a hundred people inside the room and more people outside looking through the window and hearing through speakers. Poor Louis got stuck outside. It was so fun being with so many fans! People had "Fangtasia" shirts, I saw one woman with an "I heart Bill Compton" shirt and another with a picture of Eric. The excitement was electric and everyone was giddy as we waited for her. He was making fun afterwards calling it a nerd convention... like he can talk, Mr. Airshow! :)
Ms. Harris spoke to us for a half an hour and she spent the whole time Q and A style. It was interesting to hear her answers and seeing what everyone else wanted to know about her and the series. Just for all you Sookie fans, she said she's contracted for 13 books, but thinks she may need a few more to finish the series. That was a relief to hear!

If you haven't read any of her books yet, they are awesome!! The Sookie series and the Harper Connelly series are so entertaining and wonderful reads! I have all the books to pass down to Riley when she's old enough... along with the Harry Potter and Twilight books :)
