First Field Trip

This is the week of Halloween... John's class had their first field trip of the year! They went to Oma's Pumpkin Patch in Lakeside. They were all SO excited!! Not only did they get to go to the pumpkin patch, they got to ride a bus there!! That was the highlight for John!
It's finally time to head out to the bus!

The boys cracked me up! Right before they got on the bus, they paused looking at the door, neither of them moved. Then it looked like they held hands and got on together :)

We are here!

This pumpkin patch is on a dairy farm, so I don't know why I didn't think of bugs! There were flies on top of bees there! SO many flying bugs it was incredible. Poor John was brave at first, but then he got worried and said he wanted to go home... we probably should have taken his advice...

Here he is on the lookout during the introductions...
Yes, I'm the mean mom that takes pictures of a crying John :)
All the Kinders at his school were on the field trip. There were about 3 other schools too, so it was a crowded patch that day!
The bugs were getting a little too close again, so Mrs. Sever stepped in to protect John :)

They went on a hay ride to start the day, so Ry and I hung back to play with the toys. She LOVED the dirt pile with Tonka trucks and a car she could sit in
She loves the car!

We walked over to watch the kids come off the hay ride. She waved at everyone

Our little smiley girl!
The bug situation was not any better after the hay ride. Mrs. Sever said he sat right by her and was on high alert the whole time. I told him to go and play with Tavis, so he went up on the hill with the boys. He was sad and whimpered the whole time he was up there...
Meanwhile Riley found a swing she loved and John decided to hang out with us while Ry played
Then John decided the trucks looked like fun and he had a blast for the rest of the time
Ry did too...

I forgot my camera wasn't on auto mode. Right after this one, Ry started crying.... this was as good as it got for a group picture! :)
Right after this, the field trip just fell apart for us... I found that my wallet was stolen out of my stroller. I was looking all over for it, on the phone with Louis to have him stop our cards and it was hot! The buses were going to be there about 15 mins later, so we hung out with the group to finish up the trip. The workers there said that my wallet was the first theft they'd ever had there... hmmm, I don't know if I should believe that or not... What a lottery to win! Then to top off the wonderful adventure of the day, with about 10 mins to go before loading time, John gets stung!! Out of all the kids there!! Unbelievable! He actually handled it very well considering how scared he is of bees. Only a few tears, but he sat in a class picture and took the bus home. What a trooper! I told Mrs. Sever not to be offended if I decide not to chaperone the pumpkin patch field trip when Riley's in her class :)
